Cami Ferrell (she/her) is a video reporter at Environmental Health News and the Daily Climate.

Her bilingual coverage focuses on the petrochemical buildout along the Gulf Coast. She has two bachelor’s degrees in broadcast-digital journalism and world history. She also holds a minor in Spanish from the University of North Texas. In her time at UNT, she was inducted into the national journalism honor society, Kappa Tau Alpha, and was a Mayborn Scholar. She also won a Lone Star Emmy Award at North Texas Television.

Prior to joining EHS, Cami served as the senior reporter for North Texas Television in Denton, Texas. Her stories include work on various social justice issues such as BLM protests, Confederate monument contextualization and first-generation college student experiences. She also served as an anchor for NTTV News at Noon and Denton Connection.

In addition, Cami worked alongside the Houston community as a high school English educator. She fostered connections with her students and helped bridge gaps in education after the pandemic. Her students achieved growth in state exam performance, English language acquisition, and more.

She lives with her family in Houston, Texas. She enjoys hiking with her pup near many of the surrounding bayous. Some of her other passions include singing, playing the guitar, and writing fiction.
